Memphis won its third in a row, all at home, getting 25 points from Gay and 23 from Mayo off the bench.
Mayo’s free throws with 11 seconds remaining gave the Grizzlies a three-point lead, after which Dorell Wright missed a 3-pointer for the Warriors. Gay then clinched the game with two more from the line.
Andris Biedrins scored 28 points and had 21 rebounds for Golden State, which dropped its fifth in a row.

New Orleans 97, Portland 78
Willie Green came off the bench to help rally New Orleans in the second quarter Friday and the Hornets went on to defeat Portland 97-78.
New Orleans ended a two-game skid that had seen the Hornets lose for just the second and third times this season.
Portland took a seven-point lead in the first period, but New Orleans outscored the Trail Blazers by 13 in the second and eventually pulled away.
